Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Somatic Experiencing (SE)?
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-centered method for working with trauma and stress. Created by Dr. Peter Levine, this approach is based on the idea that our bodies carry the imprints of past experiences—and that healing comes from gently accessing and releasing them.
In sessions, I guide clients with care and compassion to reconnect with their physical sensations, emotions, and inner strengths. Each process is uniquely shaped around your needs, giving you the space to move through your healing journey at a pace that feels safe and supportive.
What is trauma?
Trauma can arise from overwhelming single events, ongoing stress, or a mix of both. It may come from situations such as accidents, medical interventions, abuse, war, or natural disasters. It can also be the result of quieter but persistent experiences like neglect, shame, or ongoing conflict. These disruptions affect the body’s natural resilience and may show up as hypervigilance, numbness, or even chronic pain.
SE works by helping the nervous system release energy that became “stuck” during the original traumatic event. Inspired by the way animals naturally recover from threats by completing fight, flight, or freeze responses, SE supports humans in finding resolution where those processes were interrupted. The result is a gradual return to balance and regulation.
How can SE help?
Trauma Recovery: Processing and resolving past overwhelming events
Stress & Anxiety: Soothing the nervous system and easing chronic tension.
Emotional Regulation: Developing steadier responses to life’s challenges.
Physical Relief: Reducing pain and tightness linked to unresolved stress.
Burnout & Fatigue: Restoring energy and inner balance.
Resilience: Strengthening your capacity to meet future challenges.
Personal Growth: Reconnecting with your body, cultivating wholeness, and rediscovering empowerment.
Who can benefit from SE?
SE can benefit anyone who wants to feel more present, calm, and liberated from the weight of past experiences. Together, we create a safe and supportive space for your healing, opening the way to a life with more ease, vitality, and connection.
